Aranmani 2, a colourful horror film

Horror films are usually shot in a dark format. But Sundar C's Aranmanai-2 is packed with grandeur and entertainment. "I want audiences of all age groups to come and watch my film. That's one of the reasons why this horror film is quite colourful," says Sundar. While the director didn't have any plans of making a sequel, he says it was the success of Aranmanai that had him planning one. "The success of Aranmanai paved the way for this sequel. When people saw the film, many asked me if there was a sequel coming up even though I hadn't left any scenes hinting at a sequel. But then it struck me, what if I were to do one. While the basic formula is the same, the film is not a continuation of the first part," he informs.


Talking about the cast, he says, "I cannot imagine an Aranmanai sequel without Hansika. She's become like the co-owner of the series. I wanted a big hero and heroine for the film, and Trisha and Siddharth were apt. Siddharth and I have worked together before, so we share a certain comfort zone. But this is the first time I am working with Soori, who has added the humour element to the story."

Sundar reveals that this film, too, saw some paranormal incidents on the set. "My technicians were working overnight, when one of the them went behind the set to take a break. He saw some figure standing and wondered if it was some other technician. But then he quickly realised that it was something else. It was quite eerie," recalls Sundar. He adds, "The climax has come out quite well and the songs by Hip Hop Tamizha, too, are quite different. Now, I am definitely looking forward to yet another sequel."
